HBO has announced the following actors as series regulars for the Harry Potter TV series:

  • John Lithgow – the six-time Emmy®, two-time Tony Award winner, and BAFTA and Oscar® nominee – will take on the iconic role of Albus Dumbledore.
  • Paapa Essiedu, Emmy® and BAFTA nominee, will portray Severus Snape.
  • Nick Frost, BIFA nominee, has been cast as Rubeus Hagrid.
  • Janet McTeer, winner of both a Tony and an Olivier Award, and a nominee for the Oscar® and Emmy®, will play Minerva McGonagall.

Additionally, the following actors will appear in guest or recurring roles:

  • Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell
  • Paul Whitehouse, BAFTA winner, as Argus Filch
